Rodney is a graduate of Miami University and a former Airborne Army officer.
Rodney describes his first business venture and lessons learned: “In college, I started a business that delivered beer kegs to fraternity houses. As you can imagine, it took off! Even the campus administrators supported us because we conducted business in a responsible way. Later we added additional services – ice, party stuff, etc. I learned to listen to our customers and pay close attention to details. Funny how those early lessons stick with you.” Rodney incorporates these values into his current business relationships, which have contributed to his success as an entrepreneur.
Over the past 10 years, Rodney was proud to have launched, managed and successfully sold two technology companies that focused on helping businesses succeed online. He founded NetStrategies to help businesses with their Internet Marketing efforts, and GoHost to assist businesses with their hosting needs. Both remain in operation today.
Rodney’s passion for entrepreneurs is evident the moment he begins speaking about One Degree Capital. “I vehemently believe in the power of the Independent Business Owner and their importance to the American economy,” explains Rodney. “There is no such thing as a ‘small’ business. So-called Small Businesses are responsible for employing 57% of the country’s private workforce. There’s nothing ‘small’ about that! I firmly believe that these businesses should have access to the capital they need to start, grow, and sustain their business. And they shouldn’t have to mortgage their house to do it.”
At every opportunity, you will find Rodney out in the community listening, learning, and exploring, always looking for more ways One Degree Capital can assist the independent business owner. When in the office, he shares this knowledge with his team and with his leadership new promotions, ideas and products are created to fuel One Degree’s vision.

Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Jennifer discovered her passion for helping independent business owners when she started working for an equipment leasing broker in 2002.
“So often when you hear about businesses purchasing equipment on the news, it’s ultra-large corporations doing billion dollar deals,” explains Jennifer. “What you don’t see are the thousands of small businesses out there whose $10,000, $20,000 or $50,000 equipment purchase means they get a chance to build their business, possibly even hire another person. While that may not seem like a lot, when you multiply it over the thousands of businesses in the country, it adds up to one big impact on our economy. From the first business owner I helped through a business loan, I was hooked.”
Jennifer continues, “When Rodney explained the model behind One Degree Capital, I immediately saw the benefit to business owners. To have just one degree of separation between the business owner and the source of their loan funds provides more opportunity for collaboration and accountability. I am thrilled to be a part of it.”
Jennifer is responsible for ensuring the growth of One Degree Capital through the development of its vendor relationships, continually exploring new ways to reach out to businesses who would benefit from the services of a private commercial lender. Together with Rodney, Jennifer is also responsible for overseeing the operations of the business, continually searching for ways to streamline administrative functions to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
